Don't Over-Deliver. Just Don't

What do leaders do?

Leaders delegate.

They take credit for delegated work.

This frees them up to . . . .

  • develop business
  • develop a reputation for excellence
  • take long lunches
  • go to networking events at which they speak from presentations prepared by the people to whom they delegate work
  • schmooze with senior leaders
  • develop the skills and gain the experience necessary for promotion
  • steal other people's clients (I know, you wouldn't do this, so for you I'd say, protect your clients from the people at your shop who would steal them)
  • golf, attend first day of the baseball season, spend time with your kids, look relaxed at work instead of harried (relaxed is the look of a leader, stressed is the look of a grind)
  • fill in the blanks please . . . .

You're welcome.

Happy Easter.

Long ago I had a boss who did many of those things. She got away with it for a while, then the Peter Principle kicked in.
